SPECIAL GUEST POST

SPECIAL GUEST POST  SPECIAL GUEST POST

From time to time you know The Hives like to showcase some special guests in our diary posts. Well, here is just such an occasion.....Introducing our Travis - film maker, video director & all around great guy fresh off the boat visiting us from Los Angeles, California. Over to you Travis:

"I must preface this little entry with the fact that it is currently 4am Los Angeles time and noon in Stockholm, so needless to say, I'm a bit delirious as I've yet to adjust to the extraordinary time difference. HOWEVER, despite the lack of sleep and generally just feeling like death, I could not be more enthusiastic about my experience here. Hearing these new songs day in and day out has been seriously lighting a fire under my ass to make sure I create some video content that is equally as badass, captivating and energizing as the songs are.

I'm going to pretend for a second though, that it's not just the brilliant new music casting such a positive spin on my stay here, and that maybe, just maybe, there are a few other contributing factors. Firstly, I feel like there could not be more genuine, caring and all around beautiful people anywhere else on the planet. The people of Stockholm could teach the entire world a thing or two about a thing or two. They just "get it" here and it makes me want to be a better person.
Pretty much everywhere you look looks like the front of a postcard. It's an absolutely stunning city (hopefully pictures to follow).

On another note, as if I wasn't already enamored enough with the sights and sounds, I happened to be here on "Våffeldagen" which is National Waffle Day (Google it, no time to explain).. I mean, I didn't think I could love this place any more than I already do, but "WAFFLE DAY"?? Hello?? Earth to EVERY other country, get it together, these Swedes are not messing around.

Anyways, I'm going to try and cut this short because I could go on for hours, but when asked by Mr. Dangerous himself to share a few words, the first thing that came to my mind was "I can't wait for people to hear this fucking record" and also that I wish it was coming out tomorrow so everyone else could enjoy hearing it as much as I have. Then naturally I had to share a little more in attempt to express my undying love for The Hives and their homeland. These guys are really killing it from morning and on into the night. They mean business, brace yourselves.

-T"

On an island, in Stockholm?

On an island, in Stockholm?

We are where we've been for the past 17 days, recording what will end up being the new record. I know you know that we've recorded in other studios prior to this one on this project, but this time it's more than a warm up. This is, believe it or not, the real deal.

We are on an island in Stockholm and pretty much everything we've collected over the years that makes a noise/sound we brought with us. It wasn't easy, but in small wooden boats we managed to fit a shitload of drums, amps, guitars, microphones, mixing desks, grand pianos, synthesizers, guitar pedals, orchestral instruments, power plants, jet engines, loud dogs and swooooshes. And we're playing, hitting, pulling, screaming and whispering on or into them all day long, every day. Why, you might ask yourself, Why go through all the trouble?
Because we can, and no one else knows how.
Make a Hives record, that is.

Howlin' just came in here so I'll ask him for your reading pleasure: Any thoughts you want to share with our fans right now Pelle?

- "Live from New York, It's Saturday Night! I always wanted to say that"

Nicholaus is sitting doing something here too, what are you up to Nick?

- "Recovering from some nasty guitar playing, and about to fill up on 45 more cups of strong coffee."

Vigilante & Matt say hello I'm sure, can't see where they're at right now but around here somewhere I guess, making something that will end up being some of the greatest music you've ever laid ears on.

We'll try to hook you up with something more than letters to lay your eyes on too soon so stay tuned folks!

Chris

The Hives 411

So Happy Holidays everybody!

Thought Id share some Hives with you all.

We (aka yours truly, aka the band that could not die, aka the frikkin partymachine, aka The Hives) recorded some pretty bad ass tracks right before christmas with, hear this and belive it or not, live horns and all. Some rough elephant style honkin´def going on there. Gonna rehearse another batch of tracks now in jan that will after proper preps be recorded. One is a speeding train, another one is also a speeding train, another one's got swagger and another one is sheer cool.

So there.

Enjoy your January! I know I will.

Forever

Arsonio Hall
