Yeee haaaa!
Yesterday me Chris and Pelle flew to NY to see the almighty Sonics reunite. They were to do so at the cavestomp festival. A garagerockers wet dream. We flew in the morning from Tacoma International airport in a wierd garagerock coincidence (as The Sonics hail from Tacoma).
We got in to NY at around 5 or 6 or something like that and went straight to Brooklyn to hang out with some friends.
After food and drinks we left for Warzaw in Brooklyn where the Cavestomp festival was to be held.
We started drinking a bit and mingeled around with all garage rockers saying hi to some friends who had all come for the magic event.
After that time had come to see The Lyres play, another one of our favourite bands. They were amazing and Jeff Conolly was in good form throwing his tambourine around.
and then...
More drinks, watch the Fleshtones play, more drinks and BOOM!
The curtain opened and the Sonics went straight into He's waiting. Woo haa what a beginning and then it all got even better from there. I was in heaven and we even got to meet them afterwards.
Hung around for a short while and then went to our hotel for an hour of sleep before heading off to Sacramento on the plane for todays show.
Story round up:
It was a magic night well worth the trip!!!
Thanks Sonics!

So,
We spent a few days plus halloween in Seattle. Glorious fun. Went to dinner at the Space Needle where we feasted on crab legs and wine in order to celebrate Vigilantes 29th birthday. He himself spent his birthday contemplating life and catching 35 trouts in the rocky mountains. We then took the monorail back to the hotel. The monorail must have had one of the worlds worst rides but it looked cool and sometimes you just have to sacrifice comfort for cool. It is what separates us from the animals.
Halloween we went to a bar where we saw a fantastic misfits coverband after convincing the doorman that, yes, we are over 21. What could be a better halloween than this. Check it out: Italian dinner-Misfits cover band- Gaybar-House in the suburbs-hotel at 6.30. Getting kicked out of cabs and all. Thank you all our new friends.
The show in Seattle turned out way better than it deserved with a hung over band pulling it together and doing it well. Real well. Thanks for coming everybody. I am right now in the dressing room in Portland. Great recordstore across the street. Don´t´mean to sound like an old fogey here but there was a time when we would tour and there would always be a great record store outside the venue. I suppose I am glad I don´t have to carry two suitcases full of vinyl everywhere I go but it does make me kind of sad.
Portland, you are about to meet the HIVES.
